The Details Behind Each Point
A closer look at the working practices that distinguish this workshop.
Expertise: Bench Technicians Who Work on a Narrow Scope
Tickvane's technicians work on quartz movements, case sealing and mechanical chronograph calibres. The scope is deliberate. Technicians who handle a wide range of tasks rarely develop the depth of familiarity that comes from repeating the same type of work over many years. At Tickvane, the people who open your watch have done so on the same type of calibres many hundreds of times before.
Equipment: Pressure Testing Built Into the Workflow
Most workshops describe pressure testing as an optional add-on. At Tickvane it is part of the close-out process for every battery and seal job. The 3 bar dry check is run before the docket is written up. If the case fails, the work continues until it passes. The reading is printed on the docket the owner receives.
Service: No Work Starts Without an Agreement
The workshop coordinator's job is to turn an owner's description of a symptom into a clear service brief. That brief — including the scope and the cost — is shared with the owner before the watch goes to the bench. Collection surprises are not part of how Tickvane operates, and the docket produced at the end reflects exactly what was agreed at the start.
Value: Transparent Pricing in Ringgit, Stated Up Front
Tickvane's three services are priced clearly: RM 490 for battery and seal renewal, RM 1,180 for water resistance testing and reseal, and RM 4,180 for a chronograph overhaul. These are not starting prices subject to revision. If parts required during a job would change the cost, the owner is contacted before those parts are fitted.
Results: Measurable Output on Every Complex Job
For chronograph overhauls the rate chart is the most direct measure of what the service achieved. Recorded across six positions before and after the overhaul, it shows the condition the movement was in when it arrived and the condition it leaves in. That document belongs to the owner and is referenced on any subsequent service.

Distinctive Features of the Tickvane Approach
The Docket as a Permanent Record
Every job produces a physical document that the owner keeps. Two years later, when the watch comes back for a further service, that docket is the starting point for the bench technician's assessment.
Wet-Stage Testing for Dive-Class Cases
Where a case's dry test reading allows, Tickvane proceeds to a wet-stage test. The result — and whether the case holds its rated depth — is printed on the docket alongside the corrective work performed.
Observation Period on Chronograph Work
After a chronograph overhaul is assembled, the piece runs on the bench for several days before the rate chart is finalised. This observation period catches issues that only appear under extended running conditions.
Drop-in and Collection on a Working Day
The Jalan Tun Razak address is designed for owners who pass through the area during the working week. Battery jobs often allow same-day collection. More complex work is discussed at intake with a clear timeframe.
