Dropped in a Seiko quartz I had not worn in two years. The team checked the crown condition without me asking and flagged a hairline thread issue before starting. The docket they gave me listed everything — cell type, gasket specification, pressure reading. Collected same day. The watch is running well three weeks on.

I swim most mornings and wanted to know if my dive watch was still holding its rated depth. The water resistance test took three working days. They printed both the dry and wet readings on the docket, which I appreciated — I now have a reference point for next year's service. The only thing I would change is a slightly faster turnaround, though they were honest about the timeline from the start.

My Breitling Navitimer had developed a hesitation on the reset — the chrono hand was taking two or three taps rather than returning cleanly. Tickvane quoted six weeks before they confirmed start, which is longer than I initially wanted but they were straightforward about why. Six weeks later the rate chart showed a marked improvement across all positions, and the reset is back to how I remember it from when I bought the watch. The condition report at intake and the function log on collection are documents I will keep.

Quick battery job on a Tissot. The coordinator explained why they do not use a universal gasket kit before I even asked — apparently the crown tube diameter on that model is not standard. The watch was ready at 5 pm the same day and the docket noted the specific cell type fitted. A small thing, but useful to have in writing.

The water resistance service on my Omega Seamaster was thorough. I had taken it snorkelling and noticed the crystal looking slightly misty after a long dive — they found the crystal seat gasket had compressed unevenly and replaced it along with the other seals. The wet test result came back fine. My one note is that I wished they had called me at the dry-test stage rather than waiting for the full report, but the end result was exactly what I needed.

My father left me a Heuer Carrera that had been sitting in a drawer for years. I was not expecting much — just wanted it running again. The overhaul took about seven weeks but the technician clearly understood the calibre. The rate chart improvement from intake to collection was dramatic. I did not know what a six-position test meant before this; I do now, and I can see why it matters.

Service Journeys in Detail
Three cases that illustrate the full arc of a bench visit — from what was noticed to what the docket recorded.
A Quartz Watch Back from Storage
The Situation
Owner had a vintage Citizen quartz that had not been worn in four years. The battery had drained and the crown felt stiff on winding. They were unsure whether the gaskets would still be serviceable after that period of storage.
What Was Done
The coordinator confirmed the battery type before the watch went to the bench. The crown was found to have minor thread wear — noted on the docket, not replaced without discussion. New cell and full gasket set fitted. Dry pressure test at 3 bar passed.
The Outcome
Watch collected the next morning. Owner kept the docket with the thread-wear note as a reference point for the next service. Total bench time: less than four hours.
A Sport Watch Before the Season
The Situation
Owner planned to resume open-water swimming and wanted confirmation that a four-year-old watch still held its 200 m rating. The dial showed no fogging but they wanted instrument evidence rather than a visual check.
What Was Done
Dry test first — reading came back within tolerance for the original rating. Wet test followed. Crystal seat gasket had degraded and was replaced. Full gasket set renewed. Second dry test confirmed the case held the rated specification.
The Outcome
Docket included both dry-test readings, wet-test result and the depth rating note. Owner collected on day four. They were back in the water the following week.
A Chronograph Hesitating on Reset
The Situation
A column-wheel chronograph purchased twelve years ago had begun requiring multiple presses on reset. The running seconds hand was also gaining slightly compared to the owner's expectation. Service interval had not been observed.
What Was Done
Full overhaul — base movement and chronograph train stripped and serviced separately. Reset hammer and its spring were found worn and replaced. Seven weeks on the bench including five days of observation. Rate chart taken before and after at six positions.
The Outcome
Post-service rate chart showed mean daily rate within ±3 s/day across positions. Reset now functions cleanly on a single press. Owner received the condition report, parts list, both rate charts and the 12-month coverage note.
